If you play Elden Ring online, you can write messages, rate them, and even receive rewards if enough people applaud your messages. Read on to know how to write, rate, and reap rewards for messages.
How to Write Messages
Select Template Phrases from the Messages Menu
If you want to leave a message for other players to read, first make sure you’re connected to the Internet by choosing Play Online from the pause menu.
Then, in the main menu, go down to Messages. From there, you’ll be able to select template phrases for the message you want to leave, then press Finish.
You Can Also Use Tarnished’s Wizened Finger
You can also select Tarnished’s Wizened Finger from the Equipment menu, then assign it to a Quick Item Slot. Tarnished’s Wizened Finger is acquired in the first area of Elden Ring, Stranded Graveyward, so you’ll be able to write messages right at the start of the game.
How to Rate Other Players’ Messages
You can Applaud or Disparage other players’ messages by first interacting with them. Look for a glowing script on the ground, which indicates that someone has left a message at this particular spot. Choose to read the message, then you’ll have the option to Applaud (leave positive feedback) or Disparage (leave negative feedback.)
Can You Disable Messages?
Yes, You Can Disable Messages
If you want purer experience, free of advice from other players, you can disable messages. However, the only way to do this is to disconnect from online play. Go to System in the main menu, then Network, and under Launch Settings choose Play Offline.
What Rewards Can You Get for Being Applauded?
You Can Get HP if Your Message Receives Applause
Leaving a message that other players find helpful may net you a reward in the form of HP! If a player Applauds your message, you will receive some HP in thanks. Try leaving advice in front of a boss room, for instance, or when the area ahead is dangerous, and you might be rewarded for it!
