Are There Any Care Tips For Preserving The Color Of Chrome Hearts Frames?

This Sunday is National Sunglasses Day! Here at Fuse, we want your sunglasses to last you as long as possible, through thick and thin. So, in order to make your sunglasses live their fullest life, we are giving you the do’s and don’ts of caring for your sunglasses. To find out how to stretch the life of your sunglasses, just continue reading.

Do Keep You Hands Clean

Make sure you wash your hands thoroughly before touching your glasses. If you don’t, the dirt and oil from your hands will end up on your lenses and frames and make them dirtier or even leave a scratch.

Don’t Use An Old Rag or Article of Clothing

Cleaning your sunglasses with an old rag or article of clothing is too abrasive. Using these can scratch your lenses or frames, which is the opposite of what you are trying to accomplish. Avoid using these so your frames and lenses don’t get worn down too quickly.

Do Use a Microfiber Cloth

Instead of using a rag or article of clothing, try using a microfiber cloth specifically designed for cleaning your glasses. When cleaning, press down gently but firmly to remove the dirt and grease from your glasses.

Don’t Use Paper Towels or Tissues

While these may seem softer than rags or clothing, they are still too abrasive to clean your glasses with. Paper towels are made from trees, and we’re sure you don’t think trees are soft. They can leave scratches and ruin your glasses.

Do Use Lens Cleaners

Using an alcohol-free lens cleaner specifically made for your lenses is the best way to clean them. They will not damage your lenses and will keep them clean and free of dirt and oil.

Don’t Use Harsh Chemicals

You will definitely want to avoid harsh cleaners, like bleach and ammonia, to clean your glasses. Other cleaners like window cleaners, counter cleaners, and bathroom cleaners are also all too harsh to clean your glasses with. They can wear down the coatings on your lenses. Even using an alcohol-based lens cleaner can wear down your lens coatings and frames.

Do Use Two Hands to Take Them Off

While it might seem cool to take off your glasses with one hand like you see in the movies, it can actually damage your frames. Taking them off with one hand can stretch out the arms of your glasses over time. Try to take them off with two hands to avoid this.

Don’t Wear Them On Your Head

Even though sunglasses might be a great way to keep hair off of your face, this can actually majorly damage your frames. While it might be a stylistic choice, leaving them on your head can actually stretch out the arms of your frames and make them unwearable on your face in the future.

Wearing sunglasses on your head can cause the arms to stretch out and not fit your face later on.

Do Clean them With Lukewarm Water

You want to avoid hot water as it might damage your lenses. You also want to avoid cold water because it may not clean your lenses thoroughly enough. Using warm or lukewarm water will be your best option when rinsing off your sunglasses for debris, dirt, and oil. After you have finished rinsing them, use a microfiber cloth to dry them off.

Don’t Try to Buff Out Scratches

If you find a scratch on your lenses, don’t try to buff it out as this will only make things worse. You will end up with more scratches and cloudy lenses. If you end up with a scratch on your lenses, replace your lenses with Fuse Lenses. We also offer a one-time, one year warranty policy, no questions asked.

Do Store You Glasses Safely When Not In Use

When you are not using your glasses, make sure they are safe. Store them in a hard or soft case to make sure they cannot be damaged when not in use.

Summary

To make sure your sunglasses last as long as they can, make sure you are following these steps to ensure their safety. Make sure to clean them regularly under lukewarm water and with lens cleaner and a microfiber cloth. Avoid buffing out scratches and using harsh cleaners on your lenses and frames as these could cause major damage.
