Are There Any Specific Care Instructions For Chrome Hearts Lens Coatings?

Okay. So you’ve finally bought that expensive pair of sunglasses you’ve had your eyes on for awhile. But now, you’re lost on how to really take care of your new glasses. Luckily, we’re here to walk you through the steps of keeping your glasses in prime condition.

Cleaning

A major part of keeping your glasses looking their best, is cleaning them.

Step 1- Washing your Hands

Trying to clean your lenses with dirty hands ends up wiping a lot of the dirt and oil from your fingers onto the lenses, which can make them difficult to get fully clean.

Step 2 – Use the Proper Cleaning Materials

Using a microfiber cloth is the best idea when it comes to what to use to wipe your lenses off, since using a rag, shirt, paper towels and even tissues can scratch your lenses. When cleaning your lenses, it’s better to use a lens spray rather than just regular soap. However with your frames, after removing your lenses, you should wash the frames with dish soap and lukewarm water.

Step 3- Get them extra Clean

When cleaning your glasses, for extra dirty shades, you should remove your lenses (which is probably easier than you think) and rinse the frames under warm water. Use dish soap to clean the frames, and focus on the areas that touch your skin the most. For the lenses, use a lens spray and a microfiber cloth. After spraying the lens spray, take the cloth and use small circular motions to clean the lenses.

Preventing damage

Why go through all the trouble of trying to fix the damage on your sunglasses, when you could put that effort towards not letting them get damaged at all. There are tons of common mistakes you probably make that actually cause a lot of damage to your glasses.

1. Stop wearing your sunglasses on your head

Wearing your sunglasses on your head, even though I think we’re all guilty of this one at least a little bit. However, wearing your glasses on your head can actually stretch out the arms of the frames, and loosen screws, which is just a lot of damage that is pretty hard to fix yourself unless you have the specific tools.

2. Keep your lenses out of salt water

Try and keep your lenses far away from salt water. Salt water damages lenses by eating away metal and varnishes, which means your lenses won’t last very long.

Other things like lens cases and keeping them away from chemicals or debris can also have a crucial impact on the safety of your sunglasses.

Making adjustments

It’s pretty common for frames to start to stretch out, or maybe the nose pads start to slip, and it can seem like your glasses are ruined. But you can make adjustments to your frames to keep them in shape. Specific screwdrivers are made for tightening loose screws on frames when the arms start to stretch out, and you could replace the slipping nose pads, or get ear grips to help your glasses stay on. Oftentimes, with damage to frames, it’s fixable with the right tools. Adjustments are actually a major part in keeping your glasses in perfect condition since, no matter how careful you are, at some point damage will be done to your glasses. So make sure you’re prepared for it!

Taking care of your glasses is SO important. Frequently cleaning them, making adjustments when you need to, and doing your best to prevent damage are all things you should consider when trying to keep your glasses in prime condition.
