You can watch local TV channels without cable on Apple TV with any of these streaming services: Fubo, Hulu with Live TV, or Sling TV. Depending on where you live, there may also be local news apps that you can use as well. In this article, we’ll help you decide which streaming option is best for you. Let’s get started!
Watch local TV channels on Apple TV with Fubo
Source: Fubo
Fubo — an excellent sports-oriented streaming service- has been available on Apple TV for quite a while. Since Fubo markets itself to fans of sports like soccer and rugby, you may not know that it also has good local TV station coverage. You may be able to get not only your local CBS, NBC and FOX stations through Fubo, but also Univision and Telemundo. The only missing part of the puzzle is ABC, which Fubo doesn’t carry.
Fubo pricing and packages
Unlike some streaming services, Fubo includes most of the channels that it carries in its base plan. The next step up after Fubo Pro is Fubo Elite. The main benefit of it is that it gives you more DVR recording time and an additional simultaneous stream. The deluxe plan is called Fubo Premier and it comes with +240 channels (including Showtime and the Sports Plus add-on), three simultaneous streams and 500 hours of DVR recording space.

Watch local TV channels on Apple TV with Sling TV
Source: Sling TV
Sling TV isn’t the leader when it comes to local TV, since it only offers live feeds of a few select NBC and FOX local stations. However, there is one perk that may make it worth checking out: a special offer that will let you get a free HD TV antenna when you sign up for service and pay for several months in advance. If you don’t mind switching inputs when you want to catch local broadcasts, you may want to look into this unique service. The main benefit of Sling TV is its huge array of channel add-on packs.
Sling TV pricing and packages
In order to get Sling TV’s channel add-on packs, you have to buy at least one base plan. There are three base base subscription options. You can choose between two different base plans or get both base plans for a discounted price.

Sling Blue is the best Sling TV plan to get if you want local TV access. You won’t get any local TV if you go with Sling Orange. However, if you like the Sling Orange lineup, you can get Sling Orange and Sling Blue together and get a discount. Since some but not all Sling Blue subscribers will be able to get NBC and FOX, you may want to check the Sling TV website before you sign up for your free trial.

Sling TV simultaneous streams
With Sling Blue, you get three simultaneous streams. However, all Sling Orange channels can only be streamed to one device at a time. This could be a disadvantage for families, since all of the Disney-owned channels are included in the Sling Orange channel lineup.
As a workaround, you can use one of the many TV apps that can be unlocked with Sling TV during times when more than one person wants to use a Sling Orange channel. Disney Now, Fox Sports Now, and Nat Geo TV are just one of a huge array of apps that work with Sling TV.

Sling TV DVR
Sling TV doesn’t come with a free DVR, but you can add recording functionality for $5/month extra. You can’t record any Sling Orange channels, though.

Local news apps
If news is the main reason you want access to local TV broadcasts on your Apple TV, you may not need to pay anything extra at all. Check Apple’s app store to see if your favorite local news station has an Apple TV app. Many local news stations let you watch live feeds and on-demand news shows for free through their apps.
