80% of women are wearing the wrong size bra
Did you know that according to industry standards, 80% of women are wearing the wrong size bra? This probably means you. The purpose of this blog is to give you guidelines, tips, and additional insight so that you know how to measure for a bra. To measure for a correct bra sizing, be sure that you are NOT a victim of the above bra offenses courtesy of Bare Necessities also found at https://www.barenecessities.com/feature.aspx?pagename=fit_sizing.
For help, see the instructions below, courtesy of Lane Bryant on how to measure for the perfect fitting bra. Just like our feet, our breast size and shape can change also (often not for the better as we age, ugh!). Check out their website at https://www.lanebryant.com/content/bra-guide for a great how-to video.
Steps for how to measure for correct bra sizing: Easy Bra Fitting Instructions
- Measure your band. Wear a lightly lined (non-push-up) bra so your breasts are as close to natural as possible. Wrap a measuring tape directly under your breasts. Make sure it’s directly parallel with the bottom of the bra band.
- Now measure your bust. Place the tape at the fullest part of your bust. Make sure it’s parallel to your band again.
- Subtract the band size from your bust size to find the right cup size. Every inch equals one cup size up.
Check the standard bra size chart below to choose your fit.
Follow these 7 steps from Simplybe.com to a great fitting underwire bra.
- The wires at the front, in the middle of your chest (called the “center-front”) should sit flat against your body.
- The wires should sit flat against your rib cage in the crease of your bust with absolutely no lifting away.
- Breast tissue should be encased completely by the wire. The wire should sit behind the breast tissue, under your arms.
- Cups should fit with no bulging over or gaping at the top.
- The back-band should sit horizontally across your body, in line with the wires at the front of the bra.
- Your back-band should be nice and snug. You should not be able to pull it more than 2 inches from your back.
- Your straps should be adjusted in length to give support to the cup but should also be comfortable.
